Compute Systems

ORNL has established a separate computing environment for the handling of protected health information, that segregates it from the open ORNL network and is accessed from a single purpose workroom that is dedicated to the utilization of protected health data. This environment has controls and security plans in place that physically and logically control data privacy and access. The environment was designed using NIST 800-53 R4 and NIST 800-66 control guidance as well as Center for Internet Security guidance. It is considered compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) Act Security Rule and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act.

Data

Link to data catalog

ORNL hosts the world’s largest medical databases of genomic, environmental, lifestyle, and health information known to exist. This collection of data is massive in data size.

Tools

Link to tool catalog (COMING SOON)

The program provides users with a catalog of tools and available repositories of code. While we do encourage the use of the currently available tools, additional tools can be ingressed into the enclave. All content ingress is subject to license and security reviews.

HPC

One of the services available by our enclave is High-Performance Computing. This system supports Natural Language Processing at scale (NLP HPC), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for clinical assistance, and patient support (Veteran Advocate).
